My Design Practice explores
the relationship between culture and race through cut & cloth

About my practice

The early mornings are my most creative times, where my ideas just flow. One of the earliest memories I have is watching my Mother getting dressed for a party; fashion speaks. My clothes say something about me and where I feel I belong.

I like to go for the unexpected, why not be paradoxical in the way that we dress? I’m drawn to clothes that make my heart beat a little bit faster.

NAVABI

2016 – Head of Design

As Head of Design, I created the inspiration, story and aspiration behind the first ever Navabi ‘own label’ collection. Defining the aesthetic, designing each co-ordinating piece, sourcing all fabrics, sourcing and working in collaboration with key Italian factories to make the collection a reality. The role included working in partnership with the content and graphics teams; liaising with internal PR and marketing to share the brand message; presenting the collection to key international bloggers through blogger events and social media and mentoring junior designers, both one-to-one and through ‘design hub’ open forums.
